XPERIENCE: wumy the kitchen CEO; personality of the week!
There are very few women in this world who still remember to put their manners in check, few who imbibe the culture of woman hood, only few are patient,
Only few women remember we are not in a competition with another, only few want to see the Good of the other.
And wumy is one of those very patient and humbly ones, when I needed to get a birthday cake for a friend, I sent a broadcast to all my contacts to send any cake designer they know .
50% of my contacts responded, sending contacts of cake designers.
Wumy's contact was fortunately one of time.
We chatted from time time, until I saw on her bbm display picture, an oven she won from a competition, it caught my attention.
I chatted her up and got to find out, wumy is a woman who must be celebrated.
I then ask for pictures, so she can be on the show. The pictures she sent was old , so i asked to get new ones, through the process of pictures receiving and rejecting, wumy was patient and polite.
After a while , I saw her dp and noticed she has taken new photos, I was like gbam!!!! That's it, let's have an interview quick and here we are!!!
Please allow me to introduce you to
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO
The kitchen CEO, the owner of wumy cakes and confectionery.
XP:Tell us about yourself
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: I am from a family of four, all girls,am tjhe third girl.A graduate of Literature-In- English from Lagos State University,a prestigious University in Nigeria.
As a child I loved hanging around my mummy who loves cooking and I was always willing to help out with the tasting. That was how my taste bud got developed for good food and my passion for food started.
XP: So, how did the cooking career begin?
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: After i finished my secondary school and awaiting admission into higher institution,my elder sister returned from school and announced to me that she can now bake cake.So she asked me to help her with the mixing of the batter (butter and sugar).Wow I was trilled with the whole process of cake making and that was how i fell in love with confectionery.Afterward i gained admission into Federal College of Education,Akoka Lagos to study Home Economics but i left 8 months into the course to study Literature in LASU. Despite studying Literature i was already in love with art of cake making and catering which i could not let go just like that. So whenever their was ASUU strike,i take different courses in cake making, catering and event, with time i just knew it was my thing And even after higher institution,i took some advanced courses and even went to Republic of Benin to take some courses on French pastries just to fine tune my skill on English and French pastries.
XP:Wow, How long have you been into catering?
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: well i have been into catering since i finished secondary school in 2005, I remember back then i went for event with a church member who was into catering.... She caters for bank workers, and some other individuals who needed her service but professionally on my own i can relate it to 2011 after i graduated from LASU

ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: yes

ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: I have learnt to be independent, self discipline and prudent ,also you get to meet different people from different background, you need to be accommodating and adjust quickly to every situation you find yourself...
XP:What has been your greatest challenge?
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: my greatest challenge was myself... setting aside my certificate and having to decide and conclude that this is what i want to do. Immediately i came to my own conclusion and my family accepted my decision, my next step was to strategize on how to bring my dream to reality.
XP:Have you ever dissatisfied any client, and what did you do to make up for a repeat business.
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: yes,in the course of this business, you must learn to apologize to your clients and be honest with them.
XP: Any practical situation you would like to share with us?
ODULOYE OMOWUNMI ADEDAYO: if i am late for the delivery i will pre inform them that i will be 5/10mins late ,a recent experience i had was when i bought a material, after using it,i discovered it wasn't good enough for my standard, i had to call my client, explain to him the situation and he understood because i came out open to him,i gave him another offer which he accepted and that was how i settled the situation, you just have to be honest with whatever you are doing...if you can not meet their demand, let the client know.... Don't try to impress them and end up giving them wrong impression about yourself.... People don't forget things easily...

I got on the competition the week the form was going to close, and when i was told i was going to compete with 14 others contestants,i wasn't sure about the whole thing.I told myself i was going in to get experience and catch fun, on the day of competition,i actually lost hope when i saw other contestants with different and lovely sugar flowers and equipment to make their work stand out... all i could do was to encourage myself...
Hahahaha, well, when the competition started... i did my best and to my greatest surprise,i came second and won an industrial oven.
