MAYA ANGELOU; THE PHENOMENAL WOMAN
I remember you today mother, poet, Friend and mentor, Your words gave life perfection, your words gave me a Niche.
You still inspire even in your state of rest, your foot prints are still bold and visible, yes it is, because you intended and made it so.
I for one will make sure, it shines bolder and brighter, for i will write write, till there are no gadgets, papers, walls ,grounds or platform to write on, then i will resort to my voice, i will speak and speak till my time on earth is over.
In my ethnic group we call your kind "Achalugo Nwanyi"
You fought a Good fight mama, A fight that benefited me and people around you.
You are a rooted ornament, the kind of woman, i want to be, my kind of woman.
FROM THE STABLES OF MAYA
Out of the huts of history shame,
I rise
From a past that is rooted in shame
I rise
I am a black ocean leaping and wide, welling and swelling i bear the tide.
Still i rise
You may shoot me with your words
You may cut me with your eyes
You may kill me with you hatefulness ,
But still
Like Air
I rise.
Maya will tell you
Stand up straight!
And realise
Who you are.
Know that you tower over circumstances
You are a child of God, so stand straight and dont bend.
TO MAYA.
